About No.2

Owners, Heidi and Doug, often struggled trying to find private accommodation where they could escape for a couple's retreat with their lovable dog, Heinz.

With experience of running a People's Choice Award Winning family holiday home, they hatched a plan in the winter of 2020 to turn the far end of the back garden into they type of retreat they spent hours looking for.

And so No.2 (as it was eventually named) was born.

On the first of January, 2021, into the garden they went. Months of digging, clearing space, erecting poles and painting fences followed.

The photos to the right show the Train Wagon prior to its restoration, and then in place at No.2 before the garden was created around it.

How No.2 looked

How it looked: The Train Wagon now hides behind the tree at the very back of the left hand side of the picture. The Shepherd's Hut sits between the railway and and the bushes in the middle, with the tree to the right hand side creating a natural boundary for the pathway to the gardens.

How it started!
When we started building No.2
Building at No.2

Our Shepherd's Hut was built plank by plank on site, with the help of a fantastic local tradesman. These photos show snapshots of progress- from the roof half finished to the happy smiles of a walkway finally complete.

In all, the transformation took just short of seven and a half months, and we opened to our first guests on the 14th of July 2021.

A completely family run business, all of us at No.2 love our huts, and our no.1 priority is ensuring our guests have amazing visits that create memories to last a lifetime.

A lot of mud involved !

The sad, lonely looking tree on the left is now a central part of the Train Wagon's secret garden.
